Bringing Up Down Syndrome
Welcome to B.U.D.S.
On August 8th, 2005 www.B.U.D.S.online.org launched. B.U.D.S. is a non-profit organization that was started in 2003 that benefits anyone in North Alabama that is impacted by Down syndrome.

WHAT DOES B.U.D.S DO?

With the money raised by B.U.D.S. we are able to provide “New Parent Packets” to all families who have children born with Down syndrome before they even leave the hospital. This is extremely critical because this is usually a new families very first experience with the “concept” of Down syndrome. During this time, they are trying to not only digest being brand new parents, but parents to a child that is not at all like the one they were anticipating. The child is still just as precious a gift, just a gift in a different package. Just as the wind has been completely knocked out of this new set of parents, we show up with not only the personal knowledge and experience of, having been right where they are ourselves, but also a new set of “tools” for them in the form of our “New Parent Packets”. These packets contain books and other resources that families can use as a hands on reference immediately. These books and references contain most up to date information from birth to adulthood regarding their family member and their specific needs at every stage.
