When our son was born with Down syndrome, we had good support.Unfortunately, none of us knew very much about Down syndrome. I wanted quality information and a chance to meet and share ideas with other parents. So, in 1995, the Down Syndrome Association for Families (DSAF) formed to address these needs.

The DSAF now hosts group meetings, parent coffees, larger family activities, and community events. I am very proud of our growth! This is our 8th Annual Buddy Walk! We also recently hosted an amazing educational conference with International author Patricia Oelwein in November 2007 called "Literacy Skill Development for Students with Special Learning Needs" for parents and professionals (see info at the link below). My hope is to continue expanding the DSAF, under the direction of our Board, to someday become a state-wide organization. Please browse our website. Sign up online to become a member and receive our newsletter and mailings. Look over all the great resources, including our Brand New Day new parent packet and great photos! This fall you may register and pledge online for this years 8th Annual Capital City Buddy Walk, taking place on Saturday, October 3, 2009.
